RESC Press Release

December 10, 2021

Dear RESC Families

School Safety is our number one priority at Randolph Eastern Schools, and we take all threats seriously.  RESC and the Union City Police Department received information and were made aware of possible threats about shooting up the school.  School officials worked with the Police Department to investigate the threat and have determined the threat to be unsubstantiated. It has become apparent there was at no time a true and present danger towards RESC. Regardless, the police assisted us this morning with an increased presence on campus to help ease the concerns of students, staff, and parents.  The school and police will continue monitoring and taking appropriate action as needed.   We appreciate the assistance and response from our local law enforcement in helping keep student safety a top priority.

We encourage you to take this opportunity to speak to your student(s) about the importance of school safety and the appropriateness of their actions. Encourage them to report concerning activity or information to a teacher, administrator, or School Resource Officer.  While it is everyone’s duty to make safety a top priority and share important information, it is equally essential to prevent the spread of misinformation.

In closing, RESC assures its students, parents, community members, and staff that we will continue to make every effort to ensure that our schools are safe and secure. Rest assured, you and your students can be confident that they will return to a safe and supportive learning environment.
