UC FFA Chapter's Recent Exciting Accomplishments

FA1-800x450
FFA has been busy this past month with several exciting accomplishments.

1) UC FFA CDE (Judging) teams were honored at the 97th Annual Randolph County Farmers' Achievement Banquet. Over the past year, Union City had 5 of the 9 County Champion teams (Dairy, Soils, Meats, Dairy Foods, and Livestock Skillathon), and 6 students were honored as Individual County Champions.

2) UC FFA teams placed 4th and 7th out of 20 teams in the highly competitive District IX Small Engines CDE. Ian Glunt and Braydon Hoggatt qualified for the State Contest next month, and Rylan Glunt and Alec Spence did a great job as 7th-Graders competing against high school teams.

3) UC FFA had 3 individuals place first with their District Proficiency Application. This is a 20-page application highlighting the students' Supervised Agriculture Experience Program. Students keep records of their Agriculture Placement or Entrepreneurship. Katie Reichard placed first in Poultry Production Entrepreneurship, Derick Williams in Turfgrass Management Placement, and Ian Glunt in Diversified Crop Placement. They are now competing against the other 11 District winners.

4) UC FFA President Derick Williams is slated to serve as District IX FFA President for the 2019-2020 school year. This is a tremendous honor, and from what I have heard, the last UC Student to lead the District was in the 1980s.
